
PM Modi Unveils Rs 5,700 Crore Development Push in Bihar's Siwan

- PM Modi inaugurates and lays foundation for key projects in Bihar, including rail, sewage, housing, and energy sectors.
- Launch of Vaishali–Deoria rail line, Vande Bharat Express, export locomotive, and 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System.
- First instalment to 53,600 PMAY-U beneficiaries, keys to 6,600 new homes, and Rs 4,800 Cr worth STP and water projects under Namami Gange.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Siwan district to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for a series of infrastructure and development projects collectively worth Rs 5,700 crore, signaling a robust push for growth across key sectors in Bihar.
During the visit, scheduled around 12 noon, PM Modi will address a public gathering following the launch of multiple projects. A major highlight is the inauguration of the Vaishali–Deoria railway line project, built at a cost exceeding Rs 400 crore. He will also flag off a new train service on the route, and launch the Patliputra-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, bolstering high-speed connectivity in North Bihar.
In a notable achievement under the 'Make in India – Make for the World' initiative, the Prime Minister will flag off the first export locomotive manufactured at the Marhowra Plant. This high-power engine, built for the Republic of Guinea, is equipped with cutting-edge AC propulsion, regenerative braking, and microprocessor controls.
Emphasizing the Centre's commitment to environmental conservation, PM Modi will inaugurate six new Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) under the Namami Gange program. These facilities, costing around Rs 1,800 crore, aim to reduce pollution and improve sanitation across several towns. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for STPs, sanitation, and water supply projects worth over Rs 3,000 crore, benefiting thousands of households with clean drinking water.
In the energy sector, the Prime Minister will launch a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, with units planned across 15 substations including in Siwan, Muzaffarpur, Bettiah, and Motihari. These standalone systems, ranging from 20 to 80 MWh, aim to enhance renewable energy capacity and grid reliability.

Supporting the Centre’s housing for all mission, PM Modi will release the first instalment to over 53,600 beneficiaries under the PM Awas Yojana Urban. He will also hand over keys to 6,600 families who recently received new homes.
This marks PM Modi’s fifth visit to Bihar this year and his second within a month, underlining the government’s growing developmental focus ahead of the state assembly elections.
